LED Wall Calculator: What Size Do You Need?
VideoSonic's free LED Wall Calculator estimates a starting screen size and pixel-pitch category for your event based on viewing distance, audience size and content type — built by the Philippines' LED wall and event production specialists.

Answer a few questions about your event and we'll estimate a starting screen size, aspect ratio and area — useful for early planning before your technical walkthrough with VideoSonic.
How LED Wall Size Is Determined
The short version: viewing distance and content type set the core size, aspect ratio shapes it, audience size and venue constraints adjust the footprint, and pixel pitch is a separate decision confirmed once the venue is known.
Viewing Distance
The further your furthest important viewer sits from the wall, the larger the screen needs to be for content to stay legible — this is the single biggest driver of LED wall size in any planning estimate.
Audience Size
Audience size affects how much of a venue the screen needs to visually cover and how wide the seating footprint is, but it doesn't independently set the screen's dimensions — two events with very different audience sizes can need a similarly sized wall if their viewing distance and content are the same.
Content
Presentations and text demand more resolvable detail at distance than a live camera feed or ambient video does — so text-heavy content typically needs a larger wall (or closer seating) than video or live-camera content shown at the same distance.
Aspect Ratio
16:9 suits most video and presentation content and matches standard source material without cropping. Ultra-wide and custom aspect ratios suit stage backdrops, DJ booths and architectural spaces where the wall needs to match a physical footprint rather than a standard screen shape.
Pixel Pitch
Pixel pitch is the distance between individual LED clusters on the panel, measured in millimeters — a smaller number means a denser, sharper image up close, useful when viewers will be near the wall; a larger number is fine (and more cost-effective) when everyone's viewing from further back. Pixel pitch: to be confirmed based on venue and viewing distance — VideoSonic's technical team matches this to your actual equipment and venue once confirmed.
Venue
Indoor vs. outdoor changes brightness and weatherproofing needs; stage dimensions, rigging points, sightlines and physical obstructions all constrain what size and shape of wall actually fits and performs well in a given space.
Content Resolution
Source resolution needs to match (or exceed) what the LED wall can display — low-resolution source content stretched across a large, fine-pitch wall will look soft regardless of how good the panels are, so content prep matters as much as the hardware.
LED Wall Calculator questions
How accurate is the LED Wall Calculator?
It's a planning estimate based on viewing distance and content type, meant to give you a realistic starting point before talking to our technical team — not a final engineering specification.
Does audience size determine the LED wall size?
Not directly. Viewing distance and content type set the core dimensions; audience size mainly affects the venue footprint and, for very large audiences, can widen the recommended screen for sightline coverage.
What is pixel pitch and why isn't a number shown here?
Pixel pitch is the spacing between LED clusters, and the right choice depends on your specific venue and confirmed equipment availability. Rather than guess, this tool shows "to be confirmed" and VideoSonic's technical team follows up with a verified recommendation.
Can I get an exact LED configuration from VideoSonic?
Yes — send us your event requirements through the contact page and our technical production team will prepare an appropriate configuration based on your actual venue.
